A Trailing Stop is a dynamic Stop Loss feature that automatically adjusts the Stop Loss level as the market moves in a more favourable direction.
It helps traders lock in potential profits while limiting potential losses without manually adjusting the Stop Loss.
How to Set a Trailing Stop:
- Open the MT5 Terminal window.
- Right-click on the open position.
- Select Trailing Stop.
- Choose the desired distance between the Stop Loss level and the current market price.
Important Notes:
- Only one Trailing Stop can be set for each open position.
- When the position moves into profit by the selected distance, the Stop Loss will automatically adjust.
- If the market continues moving in your favour, the Trailing Stop will follow the price.
- If the market moves against your position, the Stop Loss will remain at its last adjusted level.
To disable a Trailing Stop, select None from the Trailing Stop menu.
